Witch Crafts...Magical Spoons and Pagan Style Dream Catchers

While out and about on other people's blogs, I've seen some amazing works of art and beautiful crafts that they've created.

This will not be one of those posts. I'm fond of saying that I have "two left thumbs" when it comes to crafts and art work. Of course, I can't seen a correct note to save my life and it doesn't stop me from singing along at the top of my lungs. And not being talented doesn't stop me from enjoying doing crafts!

One of my latest endeavors is making magical symbols on wooden spoons with my wood burning tool. They can be hung up as talismans or decorations, or used to add a little magic to your cooking. These are a set that I did for cooking:

The first symbol is a protection of three children symbol. The second is a symbol for a happy marriage. Couldn't hurt, right?

The other thing I did recently is to make my daughter a pagan style dream catcher. She used to have a Native American style one in her bedroom, but one of the cats thought that it was tasty (I'm guessing it was Tanner). She's been asking me for a while to make her a new one. After digging into the craft shelves, we came up with a small grape vine wreath.

I wanted to make it with blue ribbon, but my daughter insisted on green. So we tied it into a pentagram shape.

And of course, with the green ribbon, she had to have something that matched to wrap around the outside. She picked this:

I have to admit, I kinda liked that choice, lol!

We finished it up with a loop of amethyst, hematite smoky quartz stones and a found feather.

(Another one of those sideways photos!)

Amethyst is said to reduce nightmares and aid in restful sleep. Hematite promotes sound sleep, and smoky quartz has been traditionally used to aid in relaxation.

The feather was to add a bit of tradition to it, as well as connect it to me in her mind, as the person who helps keep her safe at night. (I find feathers constantly, no matter where I am, ever since I did a self dedication to the Goddess. As I stood outside and finished my ritual, a feather floated down from the sky. I put my hand out, and it landed right in it. I knew right then I had chosen the exact right path for me.)

We hung the dream catcher right over her window, next to her bed, where it is close to her as she sleeps, but safe from kitties.

So while they aren't fancy, they were certainly fun to do, and meaningful to me.

Way to go! As someone who has tried using a wood burning tool, I am quite impressed with those spoons! How did you do those hearts? Incredible and what a cool idea. I may have to borrow it from you.

I love the pagan dreamcatcher idea, it's perfect. Looks like the creative spirit is alive and well!

That's so lovely that you made this for her!! It looks beautiful! Oh gods, if Lucas sees this he'll want one for his bed - he already has a native american style one hanging on his bed , but this is so fun to make, and protective!
Loved the spoons, I'd love to make one for my kitchen, but not sure if it would turn ot nice enough. Lucas made som hearts and apples for my kitchen witch's spoon that is never finished, though.
You know I love your ideas!

Kisses & bright bessings.

Suzie, I really just sketched them on and went at it, lol! These are some of the first things I've done, so hopefully I can keep getting better and make something really cool one day. It's fun, either way! I'm thinking of doing a set of runes (when hubby has the time to cut the wood out for me).

Nydia, the spoons are really easy! The dream catcher would be a good project to have on hand for a rainy day. It was really fun to make!

What great crafts! I wish I was as crafty. I make my candles, but thats just pretty much like cooking. Your daughter did a great job! Tools always hold more power when you make them yourself!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words (and to Cosette for the award!). I love doing things like this, even when they don't turn out well. At least I get to have some fun!

That is so awesome! My twins have a dream catcher that I purchased in Arizona, but what a beautiful alternative. I am going to have to make one for myself! As for your spoons, do you ever sell them???
Blessed Be,
