Updates and a Winner!

Whew! It's been a while, yes? It's been a busy week, with Mr. B. off for a week and the kids home from school. They will be off until the 5th, so I'm just checking in - I probably won't be on regularly until they are back to school.

We've been having a great time of spending Xmas money and gift cards, watching M.'s new collection of Harry Potter DVDs, playing games and just chilling out. It's been a great week. Today I am going grocery shopping and then trying to get the house back in some kind of semi-order. We also have to start on J.'s math project and M.'s book report that are both due when they go back to school. I just never understood the need to give kids homework during holiday vacations - but that's just me.

So....what you've probably been waiting for -- the winner to the "Where the Hell is Tanner" caption contest! If you are just tuning in, the contest was to caption this picture of Tanner:

The winner will received the gently used book, "1001 Artist Journal Pages".

There were so many laugh out loud entries! I loved seeing what everyone entered! It was a really, really hard choice. In the end, there was one that tickled my funny bone the most. Maybe it's been the endless stream of Harry Potter movies the last few days, combined with the Harry Potter DVD game that I got. Maybe it was the way this person went off from the norm - goodness knows I love a rebel, someone who thinks outside the box! So the winner, is Servitor Lucem from Practically Magic with this caption:

"Not Slytherin, not Slytherin, not Slytherin!"

Please email me your snail mail address, and I will send you the "1001 Artist Journal Pages" book. I hope it will inspire you to create!

And for those in doubt, no, that is not a photo shopped picture. M. stuck her Santa hat on Tanner, and she sat there, completely still, long enough for me to run and get my camera, come back, and take no less than 4 shots of her with the hat on. Who knows what she was thinking in there? (I did sleep with one eye open that night, let me tell ya!). For more shots of my weird cat, check out Where the Hell is Tanner?.

I love that caption!! Hope your holiday week goes smoothly.
I'm a teacher and I'm barely on board with regular homework, let alone vacation homework. Ha.

That is absolutely a great caption!

Perfect caption! Tanner is such a great cat to sit there and let you take pictures. I doubt either of our cats would let us do that. xD

I'm not a fan of homework over vacations. It just ruins the whole point of a vacation if you ask me. I sit down and get it done as quick as I can so I don't need to worry about it after that.

Well, thanks to all, especially to Mrs. B. It was actually the first thing I thought of after seeing that picture. ;-)
Now I'm going to have to keep up with my own blog...
Hah.

Cute!

I'm still trying to play catch up too, glad I am not the only one.

Luckily neither of my kids have had homework over winter break, but I am certain I'd be ticked. That's BS. What happened to breaks and family time?

HAHAHA That is the best picture EVER, and EXCELLENT caption! Congrats! Yes, I never understood why teachers give kids homework during the holidays, or even at night or weekends either. I'd rather have the school day extended for an extra hour than see a kid truck home 3 text books and a crap load of paper in a napsack just as big as the child! Geeze!

Hi there Kris!!! I'm happy I'm not the only one a bit late on my posts! LOL I'm jealous of that book, but her caption was really the best!!
I jusat posted about our new life herein the country. We're happy and feeling like livingin another dimension, with no cars traffic and everything that a big city brings. I do hope everything is ok, and that you enjoy the days left of vacations (yeah, I could never get the point of these homeworks, maybe it's the teacher's sadism...).

Miss you! Have a great January. I'll try to get online at least once a week from now on.

Kisses from us.

PS: Your pendant was a success here too!
