The Housewive's Tarot

If you've been following me for a while, you've probably heard me mention The Housewives Tarot
I bought this deck a while back, and fell in love!  If the Ryder Tarot Deck and Leave it to Beaver had a baby, it would be The Housewive's Tarot!

There are many reasons why I love, love, love this deck, the least of all reasons is this:

Yes, one of the main images throughout the deck looks like my vintage housewife pictures that I use right here on Confessions of a Pagan Soccer Mom.  It's like this deck was made for me!

Using 1950's iconography, the deck includes illustrations of martini glasses for Cups and mops and brooms for Wands.  (I could use one of those martinis, lol.)

A Duncan Hines chocolate cake stands in for the Devil (only the devil could eat that cake and have legs like that!),

a wood paneled station wagon represents the Chariot, and bathroom scales stand in for Judgment (how appropriate is that?!).  The Fool card just makes me giggle.

This deck is a domestic witch's dream come true.  It is playful, functional, and comes packed in a recipe box, complete with recipes to try out and enjoy while you're doing your reading!

Included with the deck are instructions for layouts, including the Virgin Spread, the Neapolitan Spread, the Clothesline Spread, the Dinette Spread, and the Martini Spread.  Original and fun, you'll want to get two of these decks: one to use for readings, one to use for crafts and to decorate with!  I've got plans to get a second deck to use in decorating my kitchen!

The creators of this deck are Paul Kepple and Jude Buffum, better known as Headcase Design, one of Philadelphia's most innovative graphic design studios.  They make their debut as writer-illustrators with the Housewive's Tarot, and man, I'm glad they did!

What a FANTASTIC Tarot deck - I love it!!!!!

I went to the Irreference site and would love to get the book "See Jane Write" on how to write "chick lit" - LOL! I was going to say the book "Stuff Every Man Should Know" but one of the things included is pick-up lines in 5 different languages, and my husband does NOT need to know that! ;)

Here you will see my total ineptness with Twitter. I tweeted about your giveaway, but have no clue what the URL of my tweet is except the address of my profile (https://twitter.com/IFartFairyDust). Is that what you mean? *sigh*

Omg, that's an amazing Tarot deck! The Devil card is hilarious.

I'm fairly positive my favourite thing on inference.com is the A-Z of Christopher Walken! How awesome is that?? I also like their pop-culture printables, particularly the random Halloween Roller Skating Poster. :D

And, I follow you on twitter (artful_danni) and here on blogger.

aaaaaand... I twittered about your giveaway!

I love this tarot deck! It took me forever to buy it though. My aunt swore by it but when I checked it out I was put off by it's simplicity and anti-feminist imagery. Then one day I decided to go ahead and buy it. The readings I get are always very accurate and so practical. Other decks go into the whole spititual, karmic, etc. aspects of a situation while this one gets down to the nitty gritty.

Julie Cornewell said...

Just read your aticle on being a Domestic Witch. I love that term. I've never seen myself as a "kitchen witch." I'm always finding rituals to help protect and bring peace to my home. (I have 4 kids that don't get along well.) I will definately be exploring more of what you write on domestic witchery. Have you considered writing a book on being a Domestic Witch? If not, I guess I'll just create a section for domestic witchery in my BOS.

mrsb said...

Glad you are all enjoying the deck and the giveaway! I knew you'd all love it!

Julie, I haven't really told anyone, so just between you and I, I am currently working on a book about Domestic Witchery. Whether someone will be interested or not? We'll see, lol!

That evil chocolate cake takes the "cake." It's so perfect. :)

So amusing!

I loved the 'How To' section at irreference.com: How to crotchet body parts, How to perform a Tracheotomy, How to simplify a complicated message (oh, this should be my guide to life) and How to identify secret passageways and booby traps - people look at me strangely as I dodge around rays of light in dark tunnels or place wedges to prevent doors closing again after I go through them but I know they'll be laughing on the other side of their face when they fall victim to one of those traps.

Love the deck you use as well, and agree it seems just perfect for you! Blessings and good luck to all of your competition entrants.

OK, I know my daughter has just transitioned out of toddler hood but the Toddler owners manual is my pick. Had I only known about this little gem two years ago I could have given it to the husband and bypassed all the arguments and bickering involved in raising a toddler.

I've followed your blog, (Don't know why I didn't add you sooner, as a budding pagan Mommy it's nice to connect with like minded people.)

I followed you n facebook, I already follow you on twitter and I've followed Quirke Books on Facebook.

I do a weekly feature on my blog that I keep up from Friday morning to late Monday afternoon and want to make sure that my feature artist gets all the blog time I can over the weekend so I will be posting about the contest on my blog on Monday. Once I've gone live with the blog post I'll send you the URL.

I have to say the Tarot deck is fantastic. The Irreference site is wickedly funny and I can see how The Indiana Jones Guidebook (handbook?) would come in handy on a daily basis. I wanted to grow up to be Indy for a long time.

Great give away.

I love that Tarot deck. I wanted a copy the first time I saw it, but I have yet to acquire one. I brought back a couple of decks with me so I can get into practice again. It's been ages since I've read and I'm not sure I have the knack for it anymore!

MadHouseWitch said...

I have this deck too. I fell in LOVE with it, even if SOME people think its just a deck thats not serious enough. I think its nice to have a FUN deck. It did take me a bit to get used to this deck but once it clicked its been super fun to have!
