But here are a few problems that I run across that drive me NUTS:
- people comment to my blog, and when I go to find their blog and comment back to them, their profile is private, giving me no way to find them.
- I get to their blog and when I click on the "comment" link, nothing happens. Now that is some sort of Blogger screw up, some sort of glitch in their template of some sort. I find it pretty often though.
So if you are not getting comments on your blog, but you seem to have people following you or visiting, may I suggest that you log out of your account, then go to your blog and see if you can leave yourself a message. Maybe people are wanting to comment, but just can't because of a glitch where your "comment" link does not open up to anything.
And if you want people to find you and your blog and comment to you, make sure that your profile is not private. Also, if you participate in giveaways, but your profile is private, you MUST leave an email address in your posts. To be eligible to win, most giveaways (mine included) require a way to contact you. If your profile is private, there is no way to contact you to tell you you've won, and chances are another winner will be picked.
One last bloggity rant: People are donating some awesome stuff for the 31 Days of Halloween! (And a big thanks to them all!) You are going to want to enter to win these wonderful things, I'm telling you. If you've never started a blog before, now is the time to do so. Start a blog and let me know, and I'll be in line to be your very first follower! Because, you know, you can never read too many blogs, lol!
Seriously, having a blog set up, with an open profile, is the easiest way to be able to enter the giveaways. And if you aren't sure how to even start one, contact me and I'll help you through the set up. It's easier than you'd think.

I second that motion :) I LOOOVVVEEE comments...some days I get a good number...some days I don't. Once upon a time Blogger was going screwy for me...and no one was able to comment. If it wasn't for a friend who told me "hey I tried to leave a comment and it wouldn't let me", I never would have known! On days where my comments are non-existent, I try leaving comments for myself just to check to make sure nothing is broken.
That drives me crazy too! I want to get to know everyone. :)

Ahhh, good advice. Often people read my blog and then comment on facebook because blog posts are updated there as well. Or they will email or twitter a comment. Maybe I have TOO MANY comment options? :)

I actually have my blog segregated into 3 pieces, one on family stuff, one for gardening and one for recipes...
But sometimes I feel so alone, because I have had only 1 comment so far....so I mostly think of it as journaling....
I'd be so happy to get a comment or two...
I know that I occasionally get a complaint about the fact that I miderate comments on my blogs. I actually have to approve of a comment before it is allowed to become "live". I have tried it the other way; and honestly, it was horrible. It is the field that I blog about that brings out the whack-jobs. But I do allow most comments though, despite what some people think.
i love that you comment. its soo hard to make the time to share when you read something cool. its either read more or read less and comment. i'm trying...thanks for being a good example!

I like to do a mailbag feature post on Fridays, where I aggregate all comments from FaceBook, Twitter, Blogger, e-mail etc. I normally pick out four comments, three are normally pro me and the last one normally lambastes me! I find it encourages interaction and can be highly amusing at times!

I hope I'm not jinxing myself here but I'm yet to experience problems leaving comments on blogs. I'm putting it down to the fact that I use Firefox as my browser - blogger seems to like Firefox, too ☺
Good advice. Since I switched blogs, I don't seem to get nearly the comments and only one person came over to follow. Guess that was a bad move on my part?

I don't do the blogger thing, I use wordpress, but I have also noticed that there are a lot of visitors to my blog, but very VERY few comments. I always sorta assumed it was because no one had anything to say about what I wrote about.
Some blogs don't let me comment with blog name, and because my blog is not on blogger I don't like using my Gmail address as a trackback...
