Tungsten Wedding Rings: A review and giveaway

A while ago, I was approached by Tungsten Wedding Rings to so a review on one of their rings* ( let me give a shout out here to Magaly at Pagan Culture for pointing them in my direction!).  I always like to think a bit about doing reviews that are not "indie" sites.  Sometimes they are big hits on the blog, sometimes they are flops.

I also like to discuss them with Mr.B.  When I mentioned Tungsten Wedding Rings to him, his eyes lit up.  "You mean they are making rings out of tungsten?" he asked.  Uh, yeah, I guess.  What's the big deal?   This got me a thorough learning experience about what tungsten is!  Apparently, it's a super dense metal that is combined with certain alloys to create tungsten carbide, with is the strongest metal known to man.  It's virtually scratch-resistant and basically indestructible.  Mr.B. is familiar with it because it's used to make tools (and apparently the poles they use in pole vaulting, fyi).  I was more than a little intrigued to check out jewelry made from this substance after my little learning adventure.

So I received the Comfort Fit Tungsten Carbide Designer 8mm Wedding Ring.

First off, let me just say, the thing is gorgeous.  Shiny, simple, amazing.  I haven't worn a ring in ages.  After three kids (and realizing I like silver jewelry way better than gold) my wedding ring has sat in a jewelry box for years.  So I slipped this ring onto my ring finger and it was a bit strange to have it on.  And it was heavy!  I was constantly aware of it there on my finger.... just like I was when I first got married and started wearing my original wedding ring.  I found myself thinking about the ring, and it's meaning... about Mr. B. and our commitment to each other and our family.  And I realized that I missed wearing a wedding ring and having that constant reminder of love and devotion.  The ring is now regular on my finger.  And though Mr. B. didn't slip it on as part of some elaborate ceremony,  it has still become a symbol to me.  A physical manifestation of all the wonderful, magical connections I have in my life because of him.

The wonderfully generous people at Tungsten Wedding Rings have offered to let me give away one of their gorgeous rings!  The winner of this giveaway will be eligible to receive their choice of Tungsten ring up to a $120 value from the company.

Here is what is required to enter:

When my husband and I first went wedding band shopping we thought about getting tungsten, until we were told of the horror stories by the jewlery lady. Apparently it wasn't until JUST recently that they were able to create something that could cut through the metal in case of emergency. IE) Hurting your finger and having it swell to the point you can't get the ring off. Apparently, before hospitals got this new saw, a lot of people were losing figers things to teh tungsten ring.

But now that that is no longer an issue, I really want to get one for the hubs. I like the Mens Tungsten Beveled Edge 8mm Comfort Fit Wedding Ring. It's sleek and simple but still has a little bit of dimension to it.

my hubby's wedding ring is lovely but it's not keeping up well from his abuse. it's fallen into the wall at a house he worked at and has gotten terrible scratched up at his day to day job as a commercial/industrial painter. i love that he chooses to wear it everywhere out of adoration for me but wish it would keep up better for him.

this ring would be the perfect fix! fingers crossed!

How did you know that I am looking for a wedding band that looks like white gold but isn't? White gold is too soft, it shows the scratches. The women's 6mm tungsten comfort fit dome step down wedding band is simple and elegant and I can wear it all the time.

I became a follower of your blog, even if it's been long that I'm reading it. :)
And I also subscribed to the Domestic Witchery Examiner.
My wedding ring has lost the rock, so in these days I was searching for a new one.
I like 14K Gold 2mm!
