A visit with the Witchmobile

With summer coming, I plan on sharing some of my travel and vacation magic in the upcoming week or two.  It's served me pretty well on vacations in the past - a little weather magic to keep it from raining on your beach days, a little car magic to keep your drive safe - every little bit helps, right?

To start with, though, I thought I'd introduce my lovely metal steed, who I refer to as The Witchmobile!  You've probably heard me mention her a time or two!

Let me start by saying, before I had kids, I never in a million years thought I'd ever drive a mini-van.  When it came time to separate the kids before I sold them to the gypsies get something a little roomier, I was a bit mortified to consider the fact that the van was really the right family car for us.

But after a while, I grew to love that thing like nobody's business.  It's roomy, the seats come out so you can stuff it full of boxes,  kids can nap in it on long drives and there are more cup holders than you can shake a stick at!  Of course I had to put my own little touches on it....

These bumper stickers are the reason my oldest hates to drive my van, lol!  I think the "Jersey Girls Have the Best Tomatoes" is the one that really put it over....  I've got quite the collection of location stickers going (though I need to get some for places in Texas that we visited before I started collecting them).   And no, that's not really my license plate, though how cool would that be?  Just gotta keep the crazies from finding me!!

You might have noticed a few skulls here and there.  (Mrs. Coffee supplied this awesome one!)  I swear if I will the lottery, I'm going to have the Witchmobile painted to look like one.  Ha!  The boy will NEVER drive the car then!

Hanging off the rearview is a little bag of stones and herbs for travel protection.  This is so not the greatest photo, but there is also a little string of stones wrapped around it as well.  I recharge/replace this on a regular basis.

And then there is Pete:

Pete is my car guardian!  A ferocious dragon in disguise as a T-Rex (I'd explain that, but it would make me sound crazy), Pete watches out the windshield to help keep the road clear of danger while we drive.  Pete's lived in my van for years and we have quite a nice little relationship.  (If you are interested, you can read about car guardians here.)

There are times in my life when my car is practically like a second home.  Running this kid to this place and that kid to that place, errands and all that jazz.  It's nice to have it be an extension of your magical household.

More on travel and car magic will be coming up!

I think I may have seen you on the road here in this crazy state of ours, LOL....I have some protective items in/on my truck as well. I have two small bears that watch out my front window Callisto (brown bear) and Yankee (white bear w/ American flag peace sign on its belly), a sunflower (my fave flower), and a celtic knotted triquetra w/ crystals I attached to it.

I made it through all my kiddos without getting the van..although at one time I thought the Eclipse would stunt my daughters' growth. It didn't. They actually had to sit sideways in the back! My sister wasn't so lucky. She did the van thing, too. I like your inner and outta decor - it's so You!

Love it! Minivans are awesome and I never think of myself as that kind of mom. We don't have one but for trips over 2 hours, we borrow a minivan and relish in it. I want to get a newer car this year and I am debating a minivan or not.

I have a dino guardian in my car as well. And a little purple crochet witch, since DH prefers the cars remain bumper sticker free

I thought you were referring to the Witchmobile of this blog http://witchmobile.blogspot.com/2010/01/carthedrals-10th-anniversary.html
BUT, alas, she does not have a gaggle of kids to tow around :D

Your car is cool, if I knew how to drive I'd have one full of witchy stuff too! Can you believe I tried to learn to drive but got all cold sweated and just couldn't? Go figure it... I just can't se myself driving, specially a van!

Your skulls are cute, the one with the witch hat is sweet!

Maybe it's good that your son doesn't want to drive your car? LOL

I first heard about houes and car's guardian with Scott Cunningham, many years ago. It's great to empower it, I taught Lucas to do so with his Merlin that takes care of his altar, and now the incense burner that is a dragon.

Loved the pic! If I find some cool witch local stickers here I'll ship to you.

Kisses from us.

I don't have a car, but I might put a guardian in my strollers ;)

for now we have a 3 place pick-up, which is useful on the farm but won't be with a 4th human being to travel around with us!

I love the bumper stickers, especially the flying monkeys. :)

Did you ever get my contact info? Or did it get lost in the internet ether again?

I drove my mom's van when I was 17 and loved it, because I could fit all my girlfriends in it! It became known as "the party van" - so don't be so sure your kids won't want to drive it someday!

Pete looks like he has it all under control!

I love my minivan! With four kids, we didn't really have a choice. We had a sticker of 6 skulls(one to represent each of us)on the back windhield but I placed it badly and the wipers eventually wore them down. I have a very small cinnamon scented broom on my rearview and some oak leaves from fall sitting along my dashboard. Your witchmobile looks awesome!

I swear- if that was a 94 black Nissan Xterra you'd be driving my vehicle! Everyone around town knows me from that car! All the stickers and the red headed side kick sitting in the car with me! So funny!

I love your bumper stickers and all the little touches you have added to your van. I used to own a van and I loved it! All I have on my beat up pick up is some West Virginia stickers on the back window..I guess since the truck is rusting out on me due to some WV mud driving over the years, the mud has gone inside the wheel wells and stuck there, its like cement, too bad it didnt stop it from rusting..lol
