I've been working a lot lately on different banishing spells and thought I'd share a few of the quick fire ways that I've come across or thought up to banish something/someone from your life. I'm not going into great detail here, just working in generalities - these tips are aimed at those who have experience in such things, not for someone who's not studied banishing practices or ritual magic. If you are just looking to keep something out of your life, you don't want to "play" with a banishing spell that might, if done incorrectly, cause more harm than you intend.
Though you might be banishing a thought, a dream, a bad habit, etc., for the sake of simplicity, I'll just be using the term "name" for the list. And remember, any magic is more about the intention you put behind it than the physical aspect of what you are doing.
Here are a few ideas for banishing:
- Write the name on a piece of paper and use a permanent marker or white-out to "erase" the name completely.
- Write the name on a piece of toilet paper and flush it away.
- Write the name on piece of paper, and put it through your paper shredder.
- Write the name on a scrap of old sweater and unravel the yarn.
- Carve the name on a black candle and let it burn all the way down.
- Carve the name on a scrap of wood and burn it (Fallen branches are the best choice here, as lumber scraps might be treated with chemicals and plywood contains glue).
- Write the name on a leaf, river rock or shell and throw it into running water (only throw into the water what came out of it or what might naturally fall into it).
- Write the name on a piece of paper and burn it in a heat proof container or fire place.
- Carve the name into the skin of a banana or other fruit and bury it in the earth.
- Whisper the words "I banish you, (insert name here) into a soap bubble and let the wind carry it away from you.
- During a storm, shout the words above into the wind.
- Use a needle to inscribe the name onto a piece of self-lighting charcoal. Light the charcoal and when it's ready, sprinkle an appropriate banishing herb on it and let it burn to ash. Dispose of the ash by wrapping it a banana skin and burying it, flushing it away, or just throw it out with your garbage.
- Write the name on a piece of paper, put it in the bottom of your pet's litter box or cage. Dispose of the next time you clean the box.
I'd love to hear about any other quick banishing spells that you have in your aresenal!

My go-to banishing ritual is the burning method, but I really like the unraveling idea!
great list. hadn't used a few...will put in my BOS for future use.
Happy Monday, says The Olde Bagg
These are really good, I have used the flush and burn methods, if the need ever arises in the future may use a few of the other ideas you have posted. thanks and Happy Monday.
Thanks for the list!
I'm gonna put them all in my mind :-)
Hehe, I love the Litterbox idea. Sounds like a fitting end for someone/something that has been driving you crazy for a long time!
there are so many great ideas here- thank you!
This is a great article! I have done the cat litter one....I took a sock, filled it with garbage and such, wrote the name of that person on the sock and then put it in the kitty litter. Once that person was no longer troubling me I removed it. It worked like a charm!
Oh, I like the toilet paper one.
I had a HP who taught us a meditation to get rid of negative thoughts by throwing them down a well. Having grown up in New York City, I couldn't relate, so I would envision throwing them down the toilet and flushing, and I still do this.
Hope you don't mind if I link this entry to my blog.
I love these ideas! For sure I'm gonna save some for later. Thanks!
Fantastic list... a lot of very creative ideas. I am definitely going to copy into my BOS.
I love the last one!
My tried and true banishing is free flow ink pen on mulberry paper (it really sinks in), sprinkle with favorite banishing herb, & fold a couple times. Then sit it in a dish or bowl and set on fire with candle lighter or match. Dispose of ashes (flush down toliet, bury, or throw o the wind.
I have always done the burning paper method- but, If I am in my car or somewhere without paper and a match, I visualize me writing and burning it. Sometimes it is necessary to get rid of a thought then and there.
I've already used a couple of these, but some are new to me, like the litter box idea or using a white-out to erase the name, which I loved. Banishing is really something to be performed with caution, some people new to magick, out of lack of experience, make awful mistakes in the intensity of the spell, being too hard on their intentions or ending up using it as revenge.

Ummmm, Bookmark this 1... Check!! Great suggestions!!
If you go to the beach, write in the sand, the name or the problem, not big enough for everyone to see, just for you to see. Then wait and watch the water carry it away from you, back into the ocean or the bottom of the lake. It leaves a very gratifying feeling. ;)
I took some of the things that the person wrote on in their handwriting, submerged it in a waterproof plastic bag and froze it. It works perfectly HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure it has to STAY FROZEN to freeze the person from your life. But I found that THAT WAY does NO HARM to the person other than basically kind of MAKING them stay away from you. I just keep my eye on it though, so no one takes it out of the freezer!
What worked for me with this GIRL who was harrassing me, AND I'M 42 YEARS OLD, BUT SHE IS LIKE A TEENAGER, so I didn't necessarily want to harm her in any way, was to take something she had written on in her handwriting, submerge it in water in a plastic baggie or tupperware and freeze it. As long as it stays frozen it is suppose to keep the person away from you. And it works perfectly without any harm being done. Even though this girl was trying to break up me and my husband I DID realize she was just a child basically, so I did this method 4 weeks ago, and so far so good!
