On Sunday, we got a new member to our family! Meet Mimi!
Mimi is 2 years old and was rescued from a shelter before she was put down. She's been living with a foster family for a year, in an outside kennel and made the trip last Friday from South Carolina to NJ to come and live with us (14 hours in a crate for the ride!). The shelter people we got her from weren't sure if she had ever actually lived in a house before, or if she was potty trained.
She's a huge sweetheart and very gentle! She's only had one accident in the house, and it was due to Tanner (what a surprise!) showing Mimi that she might be bigger, but Tan is still in charge. That's enough to make anyone crap, so we didn't hold it against her.
I kept the kids home yesterday for Yule. The night before we got up to see the eclipse in the middle of the night! What a once in a lifetime event! Full moon, eclipse and the Solstice! Doesn't get much more exciting than that!
In the morning, we got up and walked down the block to greet the sun coming up over the Raritan Bay.
Then proceeded to have chocolate chip cookie pizza for breakfast:
The rest of the day was spent enjoying the solstice as a family. Today, it's back to school until Friday, when we finally start our winter break. I can't wait!

What a wonderful way to spend the solstice! Welcome, Mimi! (too cute)
Love the pictures of the sunrise over the water.. looks like you're having some very Happy Holidays!
hugs and blessings,
Kallan
Mimi looks absolutely adorable. We didn't get to see the lunar eclipse. There was too much cloud coverage. I was so disappointed.
Mimi looks like a sweet little thing, congrats on your new family member. Lucky you to have clear skies for the eclipse. And I think choc. chip cookie pizza is a wonderful idea for breakfast!!! Blessings to you and yours, Mrs. B.
i saw the pics on Fb your so lucky to have seen the eclipse, we had fairly clear skies, then at 118 when it was supposed to start, all of a sudden clouds, ok not too bad, then went in for the camera came outside and dense clouds you could barely see the moon, when i finally went to bed around 330, still couldn't see the moon because of all the clouds.
UGh people think mother nature doesn't have a sense of humour? I beg to differ.
happy yule and enjoy your new family member.
Sounds like a lovely day you had, filled with many varieties of sweetness … especially Mimi - she's beautiful!
Welcome to your newest member of your family!! Mimi looks very sweet. =]
So glad that you got to enjoy the eclipse/full moon/Yule! Your pictures where great!!
And choc. chiop cookie pizza for breakfast??? Oh Yea!! I'm coming over next time! =]
Great family fun for the solstice...and a new family member also...You are so lucky that you got to actually see the eclipse...too many clouds in most areas...
Mimi is darling! What a wonderful way to bring back the "light" to the Winter. I think it's so wonderful that you adopted an older dog, even though she's still a "puppy" technically. I look forward to hearing more adventures with MiMi.
Your newest family member is so precious! I love the way your family celebrated the solstice together.
Though clouds rolled in and blocked my view of the eclipse, I still felt it in my blood.
Mimi is sweet. And a fortunate one to have found here forever home with you and your family. Lots of good things come to roost from South Carolina. That's where my grands were for 2 years and then came back home.
So glad to know others have chocolate chip pizza for breakfast. Yummmmmmmmm. Enjoy your time with the kiddos when they are out of school. The Olde Bagg, Linda
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you for rescuing a beautiful baby!!!! I was on the Board of Directors of a rescue as well as ran the volunteer section of an inner city shelter and I get so angry when I see people running out and buying puppies for Christmas presents. I am so glad to hear you rescued that baby from death. You are awesomeness!
congrats on the new addition to the family!
Mimi is so cute! What kind of dog is she? She's almost shaped like a chihuahua.
The kids must have had a blast. Getting to stay home, watching the eclipse and chocolate chip pizza for breakfast? Sounds like the perfect Yule to me. :)
Cudos to you for adopting her- she looks like a sweetheart! Nice sunrise pic, I miss living up North. Of course, Savannah does have it's perks:)
Merry Yule to you as well.
Mimi is a Mountain Feist/ Chihuahua mix! =)
awwwww, Mimi is so cute!!!
Blessings on Mimi & your family. Sounds like a fabulous Yule! The eclipse was truly special and I felt privileged to witness it.
