If you've been watching the news, you'll probably have seen the big mess going on in NJ and the surrounding areas. Holy crap, we got it and we got it bad! About 30 inches of snow by the end of it all - 2 inches of snow an hour. It took all day yesterday to dig out the cars and roads are still iffy around the neighborhoods.
The buses into the city were shut down, so Mr. B. got to stay home (and shovel). The kids were a little upset that they got snow while they were already on break (snow is way better when you get out of school for it!). And Mimi? Mimi held it for almost 2 days rather than pee in snow. She finally went today and you could see the relief on her face, lol! Poor afraid-of-the-snow puppy!
Here are a few shots of the effect of the blizzard on our neighborhood:

The area is still not completely dug out, but we're starting to get back to normal!

In places the ground is bare, in places I have 3 foot drifts and the village plowed me in again, don't think I can even get the 4x4 out.
horrible isnt it...im NOT a snow person..our final total here is 31.8 inches...they never plowed our street until last night..hubby got stuck home yesterday..we ventured out to see if the main roads were plowed..they were barely..there were suv's just stuck EVERYWHERE holding up the plowing because people thought they could drive through that mess..i cant wait till summer
Isn't this insane! The plow FINALLY came through here in the middle of the night.....now we've got a 5 foot wall at the end of the driveway that The Husband has to snow blow so we can drive over to the big hill to sled.
Also, Mimi is stinkin' adorable in the window.
glad your safe, we had it pretty bad too, I swear snow finds it's way into everything, i didn't recognize my drive way when it was all said and done. my back yard is a goner and im praying the deck holds up til the 'gardener' gets back there, they just did the more important parts like the street for us. cause the snow plow blocked in the of the driveway after we had it clear O_o
Now they are salting because the snow froze to ice this overnite
Hey there it is... we seemed to misplace our snow. You Have it. You can send it back now. I miss it.
Same here, you have our snow too! Could you please send it back, what we have is on the piddling side of puny and I really miss it. Mr. WG misses his snow forts too and the other neighbour hubbys can't go out to play. It is sad really. Hugs and sparkles - WG
luckily for the little dog, the winds blew the snow into drifts so that he could go out & relieve himself. soninlaws boxer/pit mix puppy is not impressed with snow on the ground or water falling from the sky. no fun trying to shove a 50 pound puppy off the porch before he does his business....
So glad everyone is safe.
I know that in the North, you guys are not impressed by the snow, and I'm really sorry for the headaches it caused, but in my area in the Southeast, this was our first white Christmas in 17 years. It was SO COOL!! :)
I am glad that you and yours made it through OK, but to be honest, I am envious. I *LOVE* storms (Rain, wind, snow, ect) and living in an apartment I rarely get to do "yard work". Having to sovely my padio out from under all of that would have been a blast.
looking at the pictures and all I can say is WOW glad you are all safe.
My aunt lives out your way and always says she could never live in the Midwest because of all the snow. :P
I'm glad you're coping with/enjoying the white stuff! :)
Holy cow!! I'm jealous! :)
I hope we get that kind of snow here!
Oh my goodness! Now that is a snowfall. So glad you were all home and didn't get stranded somewhere.
Glad to hear you all face! WoW! How crazy has that snow been. Your pic are amazing. I got to tell...this is the first winter I have spent in a warmer state and besides not missing the snow.. I can truly appreciate what you guys are going thru!
Stay warm and safe! =]
While I am glad that you and yours survived the blizzard, I am also highly envious of you. I LOVE storms (wind, rain, snow, ect) and would have loved to just sit in my living room watching it. Not to mention in apartment life I rarely get to do yard work, so having to shovel such snow off of my patio in the cool crisp air would have been fantastic. Then again I am told on a regular basis by my friends that I am unique like that.
I am sending you an honourary Canadian citizenship - lol! It's been years since we've seen snow like that though. Our Valley has it's own weather systems that thankfully don't deliver that volume of snow too often.
Do stay safe and warm. Mimi has the right idea!
Oh poor Mimi!! I have a little one who gives me such a reproachful look when I take him out in the winter! Glad you got through the storm!
:)
what a mess winter can be. We got the same blizzard too but not as much snow. stay warm. Love the 'witchmobile'
That was huge!! Hope everything stays well now, no more blizzards!
Have great New year, sweetie, take care!
Kisses and love from us.
...and we got nothing!!! it's horrible...we want snow and you get it all!!!
Wow! Great pics! I hope it continues to get more manageable. A warm snap is coming, so get ready for meltage.
