- Mix 4 parts softened butter with one part honey to make honey butter. Put it on fresh bread (or store bought - we won't judge), pancakes, baked sweet potatoes, corn bread - it's great on most any baked good.
- Add to tea. Not only a natural sweetener for every day, but also great for a cold or sore throat (shot of rum or whiskey optional).
- Whip up a batch of Blueberry Mead (we do this every Summer Solstice!)
- Mix up a skin scrub with honey. Here's a recipe that will exfoliate, hydrate and make you smell good enough to eat!
Mix together: 1 cup sugar, 1 cup honey, 1/4 cup almond oil (look around the cosmetic/hair area for a small, inexpensive bottle!), and 1/4 cup grated (unsweetened) chocolate. Apply to skin in the shower, gently scrub, then rinse. - Eating local honey is said to relieve up to 90% of hay-fever type allergies, as it exposes you to local pollens, helping you to build up a tolerance.
- Some studies show that including honey in your diet can help lower cholesterol.
- Honey can be used as a natural sleep aid.
- Use on small cuts or abrasions. Honey has been shown to have natural antiseptic properties.
- Try replacing sugar in a recipe with honey. Here's an article with some great tips to help.
- In magic, honey attracts prosperity, love and fertility. It's also a great offering to the goddess Oshun. It's traditional to taste the honey offering first, to show that it's not poisoned.

And a magical bonus: If you are trying to conceive, smear a small pumpkin down with honey and toss it in a flowing river.
What is your favorite honey use?

The Mister gets cold sores, and I find a bit of honey mixed with tea tree oil and dabbed on gets rid of them a lot faster (and more gently) than store-bought medications.
The honey body scrub sounds delish! also easy to make. This year we'll be getting some local honey to combat the hayfever for sure
I love the idea of honey butter! I think I might try that later today-we always have honey around here. Hubs uses it in his coffee, but I like it in tea sometimes, and also on top of peanut butter on a bagel on a weekend morning.
Just curious, is there a difference between yeast nutrient and regular yeast you can buy??
It sounds wonderful :D However, I'm never made anything homemade before. =X
I love honey and recently went to a mead making lecture at a Pagan community center in New Braunfels, TX. I'm excited to try it myself!
I do honey and lemon in hot water before bed....makes you sleep like a baby. Love the mead recipe, can't wait to try it! Thanks!
Your mead is awesome!!!! Hope we get to have some more!
Silly Mistress: yeast nutrient is actually something that feeds the yeast. You can get it at most brewing type shops if you have something locally - and it's easy to find online! =)
Hi Mrs. B is me.
Hay that rhymed. :)
I read a story some where that a child with asthma stayed with there aunt and took 1 tea or table spoon a day of homey for the winter I believe. And was cured. and well enough to go home and live in his family state. This was an old time story. Horse and wagon days.
But any way just stopped by to say hi. I been reading your blog but sorry. Failed to comment.
Sending you a big hug and lots of love.

I sweeten my tea with honey and mix it with crushed sugar to exfoliate dead skin cells.
I didn't know honey could be smeared on a pumpkin and used to increase fertility! To think I did it the old fashioned way!
Yummm I completely forgot about making honey butter! We used to have honey butter sandwiches as kids. I take a spoonful of Orange Blossom Honey every morning since I moved to Florida. I'm allergic to the Orange Blossom here and i'm told if you take a spoonful everyday you build up an immunity and no more allergies. Thanks, great share!
I've recently started using honey as a daily facial cleanser, & it is brilliant! Just drizzle a small amount on a damp face cloth, & gently scrub your face.
