Magic 101: The Elements

Each of the four directions has a corresponding element that can be asked to stand outside of your invoked circle to guard or witness your rituals or magical workings.  They can all be called for general rituals, but you can also choose to just work with one individual element when working on a specific need.  Magical circles are often started and ended in the East.

Below is a short list of the Elements and their related works.


Air
Direction: East
Use for:  communication, ideas, mental energy, thoughts, imagination, studying, memory, scrying, reason, freedom

Earth
Direction: North
Use for: growth, nurturing, stability, comfort, grounding, prosperity, harvest magic, animal magic and blessings, health and healing, physical strength, centering, peace, garden magic, fertility, business success

Fire
Direction: South
Use for: courage, passion, lust, creativity, fertility, change, sexuality, enthusiasm, romance, virility, desire, passion, love, new beginnings, banishing, energy, destruction, purification, taking action, motivation

Water
Direction: West
Use for: psychic energy, emotions, love, psychic awareness, intuition, emotions, stress relief, friendship, divination, joy, death, reason, cleansing, peaceful sleep, prophetic dreams, healing, love, the subconscious,
